«I believe in music because it allows me to believe in human beings, and I am convinced that it can save the world. » Samira Brahmia For more than 10 years, Samira Brahmia has made a name for herself in the world of «world» music, thanks to her voice and her quietly strong personality. But with her appearance on «The Voice», where she courageously defended «Haramtou Bik Nouassi», a love song from the Arab-Andalusian melting pot, Samira Brahmia galvanised an audience on both sides of the Mediterranean. It is a sign of encouragement for a singer who affirms her plural identity and has the ambition to shake up aesthetic codes in order to take her art beyond the assigned territories. Her entire career is oriented towards multiculturalism. She loves the swing of Ella Fitzgerald, the groove of Cheikha Rimitti, the spirit of Edith Piaf and the saudade of Cesaria Evora, and, like her illustrious predecessors, she has a voice with a grain, a dynamic, a texture and a class reminiscent of those said to heal the soul. With this second album, composed as close to her emotions as possible, Samira Brahmia offers a faithful look at her personality. Evoking the trajectories of Myriam Makeba and Cheikha Rimitti, she affirms her freedom as a woman and her ethics as an artist. It is an album that she has imagined as a singing tour, playing with intimacy and sensuality, seriousness and humor, weaving together Arabic-Andalusian, African, jazz and pop skeins. These thirteen tracks evoke the self-sacrifice of African mothers, exile, altruism, ancestors, refugees, desire and intoxication... As a result of her many years of commitment in Africa and around the world, Samira Brahmia has been appointed ambassador for authors' rights in Africa with CISAC (International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers). She is also an ambassador for ONDA (Office National des Droits d'Auteur et Droits Voisins en Algérie).
