
PACO PADILLA (MEXICO)
A narrator of everyday stories and relevant events, of common feelings and current reflections Born in 1952 in Tlaquepaque, Jalisco, Paco Padilla highlights the hidden value of popular Mexican characters, their love of singing and the endless possibility of combining Mexican popular tradition with current trends. In addition, this artist delves into ancestral lyrics and looks for a way to say things, getting the most out of our flowery language. Something he does very well and is passionate about. In 1974 he won the university song festival. Two years later he began his career in Mexico City with the group "La Propuesta". After studying and singing in Europe, he returned in 1984 and formed the group "Tierra mojada" with the best composers from Guadalajara and with a very well-received proposal for the new Mexican song. Five years later he recorded his first album as a soloist, entitled "Historia de un bonito lugar". Since 1995 he has taken his different shows all over the world with his group, among the most important places are "La Casa de América" in Madrid and the "Performing Arts of Portland Oregon". Recognitions The singer-songwriter Paco Padilla has been recognized on different occasions. It stands out the "Francisco Medina Ascencio" medal awarded to the artistic and cultural merit of Jalisco and the "Pepe Guizar" medal, which recognizes the best composers of Mexico. In 2004 he worked with the Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra and recorded the album "Xaliscantos", being one of the few popular artists to make symphonic versions of his songs. In 2010 Paco Padilla gave 165 concerts within the country and 10 tours in the United States with the project "Ombligo de la luna", which goes through the history of Mexico. In 2011 he recorded the album "En son de paz" reflecting on the situation of violence that is experienced today. In 2016 he received the "Fray Antonio Alcalde" award for his work in the civil hospitals of Guadalajara. Paco Padilla is a popular singer-songwriter with great sensitivity.
