Luis Guevara was born in Santiago de Chile and studied guitar at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Chile with Ernesto Quezada. During this period he attended master classes with the teachers José Antonio Escobar, Carlos Pérez, Leo Brouwer, Ricardo Gallén, Hopkinson Smith and Marcin Dylla. He has developed an intense national career performing in important concert halls in and outside Chile, as a soloist and with orchestras. Luis Guevara has been teaching at the university since he was very young: in 2012 he was already an assistant in Ernesto Quezada's guitar department, and in 2016 he took over. Considered one of the most outstanding performers of classical guitar in Chile, in 2019 he released his first solo album, entitled Imbricatta, which contains compositions by Johann Sebastian Bach, Paco de Lucía and Sergio Assad, among others. As a cultural manager, he is very active in promoting guitar in Chile, carrying out streaming broadcasts with Chilean guitarists from the GUITARRA EN OTRA DIMENSIÓN studios, as well as developing concerts in the La Bandera neighborhood and other cultural and social projects.
