A JOURNEY TO MUSICAL EXCELLENCE Ekannt Singh, a name synonymous with classical guitar in India, has been creating ripples in the global music scene with his exceptional talent and dedication. Right from his beginnings as a runner-up at the prestigious Goa International Guitar Festival, organised by Guitar Guild Goa in 2006, Singh’s journey has been marked by a number of impressive milestones, such as his recent appointment as the Indian brand ambassador for Alhambra Guitars, Spain. ACCOMPLISHMENTS & PERFORMANCES In 2009, Singh bagged the first prize at the National Classical Guitar Competition in Bangalore, a notable competition organised by the Embassy of Spain. This win was a springboard for his performance at the renowned Cordoba Guitar Festival in Spain in 2010, showcasing his talent on an international platform. WORLDWIDE CONTRIBUTIONS Singh’s artistry and artistry have been recognised globally. In 2015, he not only performed but also served as a jury member at the Thailand International Guitar Festival. His involvement as a performer and jury member has spanned numerous music festivals and concerts across Europe, India and South East Asia, reflecting his influence and stature in the classical guitar community. Beyond performances, Singh has played a pivotal role in music education and promotion. As the former Deputy Head of Department (Western Section) at the Calcutta School of Music, he has mentored many budding musicians. His leadership extended to directing the Calcutta International Classical Guitar Festival in 2010 and co-founding the Calcutta Classical Guitar Society, of which he was also the President. CONTRIBUTIONS TO FILM AND MEDIA Singh’s versatility is evident in his contributions to several feature films, advertising films and documentaries. His work on the internationally acclaimed film “Phoring” is notable, winning the Vivel Filmfare Award for Best Background Score. Other notable projects include “Nirbashito”, “Jyesthoputro” and “Kanttho” which showcase his ability to blend classical guitar with cinematic narrative. INNOVATIVE MUSIC PROJECTS Among Ekannt Singh’s creative projects is his debut solo classical guitar album “Memoirs” released by Girona Entertainment. This album has introduced a new sound and experience for Indian music lovers. Recently, Singh has been appointed as the India ambassador for our brand Alhambra Guitarras, demonstrating his growing presence in the classical guitar world. POPULAR GUITAR TRANSCRIPTIONS AND FUTURE PROJECTS Singh’s guitar transcriptions of popular Kishore Kumar songs like “Rimjhim Gire Sawan”, “Neele Neele Ambar” and “Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas” have received widespread attention on YouTube. He is currently working on transcriptions of Bengali and Hindi classics such as Rabindranath Tagore’s “Labonye Purno Prano” and “Aha Ki Anondo Akashe Batase” and promises to bring his unique flair to these beloved songs. UPCOMING PROJECTS Music lovers can eagerly await Singh’s upcoming video for Latin American composer Agustín Barrios Mangoré’s “Sueño en la Floresta.” Shot in the jungles of Darjeeling, this project will offer a captivating visual as well as musical experience. GLOBAL AMBASSADOR FOR KOLKATA’S MUSICAL HERITAGE Ekannt Singh’s contributions to classical and fingerstyle guitar have not only enriched the musical landscape of Kolkata but have also brought international recognition to the city.
